There have been numerous reports that there is a problem with the rotary mechanism, and with the button. The button would get stuck, and that would prevent the rotary mechanism from locking. This, in turn, can be quite dangerous, as the plates have a wedge where the handle goes, and without proper locking the plate can slide off and hit you. That being said, Bowflex made improvements since 2011 in order to ensure no harm comes to the users, refining their system and the locking mechanism.
All in all, Bowflex 1090 dumbbell set is one of the best dumbbell sets on the market, and for several reasons: it takes little space, allowing for easier storage, allows for working out at home and in a more confined space, and saves you a bunch of cash for when you need to upgrade. Like I said, the system may seem pricey, but that is nothing compared to the expense and the mess you face with standard dumbbells.
